Devonshire singer songwriter Alex Hart has been announced as a new artist signing to Right Track Records via Universal in the UK and OK!Good Records in the US.
Well known in the West Country, Hart and her band played a triumphant gig supporting Turin Brakes at the Lyme Music Festival last year, when she performed her debut album in its entirety. In the crowd that night was Right Track Records label boss Neil Smith.
Seeing the audience’s standing ovation and noisy demand for an encore, Smith signed young Alex Hart to Right Track Records, with the first single ‘Orange Van’ scheduled for release via Universal on 7th April 2014.
Alex’s debut album, titled “On This Day’ is scheduled for a release on Right Track Records via their own sales and distribution deal with Universal Music Operations later in the summer of 2014, following the release of a second single.
Alex said: “Neil from Right Track came up to us straight after the Lyme gig to tell us how much he enjoyed it – I had no idea that just a few months later my single and then album would be scheduled for release. It’s a pleasure to be working with Right Track and to know that my music is being released by people who like my unique West Country, Country sound.”
In what promises to be a big year for Alex, she has also signed a deal with US label ‘OK!Good Records’ for the release of ‘On This Day’ in the USA and Canada.
Delighted that her West Country Country sound has made a connection in the States, Alex said: ‘The OK!Good deal is really exciting, especially as I always thought that my sound would do well in America. To know that my music will be getting to a wider audience in 2014 both here and in the US is like a dream come true.”
